Lately, I've been getting a lot of requests for additional information on the names I've posted despite my caveat. I've responded politely that I don't have any additional information on the names since I'm not researching those families and given information on where I found the information (the such-and-such newspaper is available on microfilm at this, that, and the other library). This week, I've had someone get very upset that I couldn't help them further and that I've referred them to a library that isn't in their backyard. A direct quote is "Why post information if you aren't willing to go the extra mile?"
I guess this is another symptom of McGenie-ism. If it's not already available online, then someone should be willing to do it for me.
Has anyone else experienced the same? The couple of loons I've dealt with this week have almost got me to the point where I don't want to do it anymore.
