Fran, guest convinced me on another message thread that it is better to post as an unregistered user. This avoids the possibility of editing the post, even to just fix a few typos. So from now on I will post as guest. Sorry for the confusion.

Typos??? | ||

Archive Diver:
Reread the message in this thread titled "you tell them" written by guest on 3/23/05 at 5:44am. It quotes your original reply to Blob as it was on 3/23/05. The reply is not the same as what you have there now, which you edited yesterday. It is totally different. I remember reading it as guest rewrote it. Maybe you should have reread the messages from your fans before claiming you only corrected typos. It would be very interesting to see the original thread before 3/24/05 at 12:53pm reprinted. |

Changing your name | ||

Archive Diver:
That would be the next step after your face stops being red from shame. I can't see anyone taking posts under "Archive Diver" seriously after seeing how you changed that post. You'll have to fool us under a pseudonym from now on. |

Gee, Archive Diver, you convinced me I should register, so everyone will know which guest posts are mine. You won't be seeing any edits here, though.

Fran and Fran, you both make good points. Maybe guest was talking about himself when he posted his reply to Blob2005. guest may be the one that moved on to a new hobby, and not ArchiveDiver.

Re: New hobby | ||

Yeah, that's why guest included "Edited by Archive Diver" down there in his message entitled "you tell them". Clearly, he pasted Archive Diver's message in there and then his own reply, which was "You tell them AD" That means he was obviously quoting Archive Diver. But keep on trying to rationalize it. Maybe the moderator will print the original that Archive Diver chose to change. If not, who cares anymore? Archive Diver has gone incognito anyway. Change replies, change name. Oh well. Garbage in, Garbage out.

guest is correct. I typed in the words "Edited by Archive Diver" and "you tell them".

LOST CREDIBILITY | ||
|
ArchiveDiver,
From the editing you did on your post you have made yourself look foolish. You have lost credibility (if you ever had it in the first place)? By the way. I am dmanns not Blob2005, guest or genieman. |

Genealogy is Becoming Easier
|
I'd like to get back to the thread I originally started. Because of the amount of data available on the Internet, genealogy has become much easier. We no longer have to waste time scanning through reels of microfilm at the local LDS library. More and more data is coming online, and more importantly, it is being indexed. This makes it much easier to compile a family tree.
In a few years, we'll be able to type in a few details about an individual, and computers will be able to assemble a genealogy in a matter of hours, or even minutes. At some point, everything will be online, and a complete world-wide genealogy of every individual who's lived during the past 400 years will be available over the Internet. |

You are just stating the obvious. What's your point?

BlobMMV,
Welcome to the world of registered users! My point is that as genealogy becomes easier, one must decide on the best approach for doing genealogy research. It no longer makes sense to view census microfilms at the local LDS library when they are fully indexed at Ancestry.com. It is a waste of time to scan through microfilms of newspapers if that data will go online within the next few months. It would be extremely helpful if MyFamily could tell us their plans for the next few years so we don't waste time researching a database that will be online in the near future. Archie |

... and you think that someone reading this board will be able to give you the "inside scoop" on Ancestry's plans? Hell, if you were sitting on David Moon's lap you couldn't get that information.
Oh - and I assume that your critical need to not waste time with genealogy research allows you to spend more time here posting these nonsensical messages? And a final by-the-way .... I thought you "finished" your genealogy some time ago, in just a matter of days, as I recall, using only the internet. |

MyFamily's Planned Databases
|
BlobMMV,
You may be right that we wouldn't be able to get information from David Moon on new databases that MyFamily is working on. As CEO, he probably doesn't know the details we need. He would be more concerned with the overall operation of the company. It would be better to contact Andre Brummer, who is in charge of developing new databases and acquiring existing ones. Someday we will be able to assemble a genealogy in a few days, but we're not there yet. I certainly haven't "finished" my genealogy. |

Maybe we'll get to see an "edit war" between Archive Diver and Blob2005. The chameleon posters. It's so amusing to watch their posts change. Beware, someone may copy the original pages just to repost them when you get a good denial thread (I only changed typos...) going! Exposing a fraud is even more amusing!

I'm glad that you were so amused when I "edited" a post to remove multiple rolling smileys (
In future, before you needlessly ferret out pre- and post- edited pages of mine, make sure that you are competent to perceive that the content remains the same. The only thing I find more amusing than "exposing a fraud" is in exposing a Class A moron. You're really just not ready for the bigtime, "Eddie". Edited just to give "Eddie" something to do ..... |

Eddie, it's not clear the Blob edited his message. He may have just typed in "Edited by: Blob2005 at: 4/14/05 8:37 am" in his original message.

Editing | ||
|
Archive Diver:
It's clear you edit yours. And I've got copies of your so called "typos." You are here to play games. If you weren't you wouldn't have changed the content of your first post of this thread three times. I've got copies of it. So, you can say what you like to try to get around it, you're here for more than genealogy discussion and have no credibility. You can't fix it by protesting. Too many people read the board regularly. |

Editing II | ||
|
Blob2005,
You and Archive Diver deserve each other. Archive Diver is obviously bored and is completely changing the content of his/her past posts from time to time. You're just here to insult people and try to make it look like you're some authority (which more experienced people apparently like to prove wrong from time to time.) I'm copying the pages with Archive Diver's posts because it's interesting to see how he's playing the people (including you) on the board. Obviously, you're the only one he can lure back to "discuss genealogy" everytime he tries to revive the thread (and edit that first post again). I haven't decided whether he's a bored kid or someone from Ancestry (or a company like it) trying to ruin the board completely. As for you, I don't give two hoots what you say. You are just the typical blowhard. Obviously, though, Archive Diver has upstaged you with his editing tactic, so you joined him. Nice. Sticks and stones, Blob2005, sticks and stones. Maybe when you learn the meaning of that, the other kids will let you back in the sandbox and you can stop being so mean. |

Time to close this thread
|
I think it's time to shut down this thread. I would like to thank the following people who participated in the discussion:
Blob2005 - Pompous user who pretends to know everybody and everything in the business. dmanns - Demands that everyone instantly respond to his requests. Uses computer only for message boards. His own genealogy is contained on hand-written pages stuffed in a file cabinet full of paper documents. guest - A group of anonymous posters that can't come up with their own original user name. genieman - Confused individual who stumbled into the wrong thread. Fran - Paranoid housewife. Thinks that editing typos will destroy the board. Queen of Sheba - No idea where he-she is coming from. Eddie - Claims to makes copies of message boards. Someone (possibly Eddie) may post his fabricated "copies" in the future. remax - Techno-savvy internet user. Made a single post about trolls, but didn't define the term so that naive posters would know what he meant. After making his post he went into a lurking mode biting his nails while other people continued to post. Stuck in a Catch-22. If he made another post to tell people to not post, he would be violating the intent of his original post. ArchiveDiver - Alter ego of Blob2005. |
