At last instead of spending several hours looking all over the net and pulling info from several of the most interesting gedcoms with my family names, in just a few short minutes I can create an entire tree, which will probably be as accurate as most of the gedcoms I would have looked at otherwise. However, since my family were such dull, mundane ancestors, I might also have to go to the Buy An Ancestor website, if it is still out there, and add at least 1-2 famous people so that I can brag about them to my friends. Hopefully the FakeFamily site will create a genealogy with many thousand names too, so that I can casually mention that I have x number of names in my gedcom. As to the site destroying online genealogy as we know it - Not much chance of that, as long as there are people out there who prefer to do genealogy without haveing to spend time doing any actual research, either on the internet looking at sites which have online records, or (heaven forbid!) actually going to a library and look at microfilms of actual records. |
