PostToasties gave you a link on March 16, and Iowa Attorney General, Consumer Fraud Division on March 31; Henry Rifle gave you another link on April 23; Glennoden gave you his name, address and 2 cell phone numbers as well as the FBI email address and said call the Cedar Rapids Police Department. Several people said to report it to your credit card company, Better Business Bureau.

To everyone who has posted on this forum about genseekers:
 I feel very certain that "genseekers" has finally made the error that will cost him a great deal. If you are interested go to www.baddealings.com and read some of the posts there about people, including myself, being scammed by this Abodeely character. I started the thread in April I believe. Just yesterday afternoon, he replies to the posters on baddealings and gives a valid e-mail address...Genseekers2003@aol.com, and is very surely trying to protect his ass from a lot of pissed off people. Also, he very generously offered me a refund, and he will even allow me to keep my "membership" and issued me an updated username and password. What a fella he is to do that for me . Jerk. I think he is running scared, and I know of one poster that received a refund to her credit card. I e-mailed the office of Tom Miller, IA. AG, and the only response I got was a letter stating they received my complaint. That was in April. I did lodge a complaint with ifccfbi.gov, and have been in contact with the Lt. of the Cedar Rapids financial crime unit. I hope you all stick with it, and take the appropriate steps to nail this guy. Please don't fall into the role of a "victim." For Gods sakes, I think this guy is just 21, so stand up for yourselves and let's get this ass what he deserves, jail time and refunds PLUS a little more to teach him a lesson. I hope everyone gets their complaint satisfied...and join us at baddealings if you want. You can read this guys letter of explanation. Keep at him... Lori |

Haven't been scammed by them; have gotten a lot of email offers.
To State officals it is probably small potatoes when they have other larger scams to catch. Don't bet the farm on Abodeely getting much more than a fine and slap on his youthful hands, tho. BUT....as one more nail in the GenSeeker coffin, may I suggest contacting the local TV news in Cedar Rapids? Most stations love to get their paws on a story like this; you can reference the Gensuck and Baddealings posts and let the Media chase down the idiots. Nothing like a mini-cam in your face and local coverage to get the attention of the sloths on the State Gov payroll

Dear Victims of Elias' many scam websites (you know the list if you have followed this ongoing scam), I had a BAD EXPERIENCE (to say the least) with Elias...but it was not by his websites.
WE CAN NOT DROP THE BALL ON THIS! I NEED an email or post on the baddealings.com forum detailing your experience with Elias Abodeely. forums.baddealings.com/t1187.html I NEED to get a handle on how many of you have been scammed by Elias. Class Action anyone??!! Trust me I can help you all out...but I need everyones DETAILED info!! |

Dick Eastman has posted a message on his discussion boards that the operator of genseekers.com, genealogygiants.com, etc, has been arrested for fraud in Cedar Rapids.

Most Online Genealogy files are taken from the free GenWeb site that people upload for free. They try to sell you back your own research, which they download for free. Includeing Family Tree Maker up-dates and Ancestory.com Have had it happen to me.
